For the smoke alarm that lets Michael know when his pizza is cooked...

Only once! ^_^; Heh...

Shiela, I have the same problem. You are not alone!

Dear Mikey,

Do I sense your mother does not play in a sound-proof room?

I wonder if you play (and write) too.

You are quite a remarkable family.

Oh, sorry you have the same problem as I do.  Any idea why it happens?  Put the flag out:  It didn`t happen this time.

Sheila

Oh, dim wit that I am, Mikey:

It was the pizza incident that happened only once  --  not your Mum`s recital?

Pleas forgive an oap.

Once is enough ... never let a little thing like a fact spoil a good story

So far the instruments I can't play but own comprise
a bodhram
a classical guitar
an acoustic guitar
a tambour
a tambourine
a D "Penny"-whistle (cost £6)
an electric keyboard
an electric guitar
tenor, bass and alto voice
but I am a virtuoso on the kazoo (untl my wife tells me to "Stop that awful din" ... she is so lucky that she is married to someone as easy-going and tolerant as me ... as is the rest of man-kind

Tedi,  my youngest daughter has lived in Ireland for seven years and was given a bodhram a couple of years ago, but she`s not mastered it yet.  How come you have so many you say you can`t play?

Blessings,

Sheila

Tedi, do I detect the "I'll do it when I retire syndrome?"

Let me warn you it doesn't always work. After four years' retirement, I'm still waiting for the day when I have more time.

I wonder if it's something to do with my computer

hmmm? computerise the bodhram ... now THERE is an idea

how come so many .... well, like Topsy it just growed ... that and my overwhelming modesty, I suppose .... famous for it, I am ...renowned ... quite my best feature.

(I only have one vice... I lie a little)

Dearest Tedi,

You have many virtues - and few vices - although I could do with some of your advice (horrid pun)... as my grotty tooth remains in situ, and the lovely dentist is "cleaning the nerve roots" - which, despite copious injections, is as painful as it sounds, and I remain on Clindomycin nearly three weeks after the blessed thing began. On Monday I have my fifth appointment to see if the darn tooth can be removed - and I'm now resorting to giving myself premeds of Temazepam prior to visiting the place, because frankly I'm in terror of it

Dear all,

Despite the above, I'm doing OK on the whole. The funeral yesterday went well despite the potential for disaster.

This weekend I'm preaching and taking a service at another Church (St. Luke's) so please pray for the congregation there. Yes, these two are connected!

I saw my Consultant on Thursday who says that my lingering not feeling well etc. is down to the radiotherapy and the "insult" to my pituitary gland. I shouldn't worry too much about the (continuing) weight loss or anything like that and that he is quite pleased so far. It's not that I am worried (chuffed with the weight loss and broke with having to buy new clothes - do you realise what going from a size 20-22 to a size 14 in six months does??) - but I did expect to feel better than I do by now...

Most things are still a bit of an effort, and I'm not yet doing evenings really. I still suffer from "fuzzy brain" (short term memory loss and lapses of concentration), which is a darn nuisance, although other people seem to find it endearing for some reason

Meanwhile, I've booked another weekend at St. D's to make up for the abcess time lost - which is a total indulgence. But I'm worth it (or rather the Ph.D. is)! Roll on 16th May

If I work hard that weekend, I can put it to bed ready for the June session...and then things will be on the final run, I think.

My mum has to go into hospital at some point as she needs both her hips replacing - so I'll be dashing over to Nottinghamshire to take care of her when she comes home for a few days. At 86 this is not a "small" thing, so she'll
