Non arrival of messages

I have recently discovered that some messages sent to my fish address are being returned to the sender as unable to deliver. This happens whether the sender uses the reply facility to reply to a message I have sent or sends an entirely new message. Is there a simple explanation to this disturbing trend. Both my correspondent and I are using Outlook.

On a slightly different tack is there a spam folder on squirrel mail where messages that are filtered out can be accessed.

Connection problems?

Is anyone else having connection problems today? I have been trying to connect via surefish (dial-up) since early this afternoon, and keep getting the following error message "Error 681 - access denied - username and/or password invalid on the domain."
I'm also having problems sending email via Outlook Express, getting the following error message "Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'pop.fish.co.uk', Server: 'smtp.fish.co.uk'.

I've had several spam emails recently which purport to come from my own email address (?), and wonder if this has caused any problems? Any suggestions appreciated,

Email via Outlook/AOL.

Hi,

I've been using Outlook to check my fish.co.uk email account successfully until the last few days. Unfortunately while I'm still able to receive emails I cannot send any - they remain in my outbox.

I've checked all the settings that can be altered in Outlook and have adjusted them in line with your own guidelines and the guidelines of AOL http://help.aol.co.uk/email/reading-your-email-using-other-email/article/20060816080909990050 still no success. My current setup is using the aol server to send email (normal practice I believe) and although it will successfully connect to the outgoing server it will not send email.

Have Surefish fallen out with AOL and are they perhaps blocking our sending of emails? When I was able to send email they recently were returning some emails to me with a message that they suspected it was 'unsolicited' or something like that. It looks like they're tightening their policies on email, in my experience too tightly, since I couldn't even forward to my Mum without them returning it to me.

Is anyone else having problems with AOL email policies?

Question re Mailwasher

I use Mailwasher (free) to sort my mail before downloading. Recently it has been identifying every single mail as unsafe. This means I have to go down the whole list very carefully, unticking all the mail I want.

This rather reduces its usefulness. Anyone else finding this. Anything to do about it?

Scams using forum

I have begun to get emails which appear at first glance to have something to do with the forum, but are scams aimed at defrauding people who reply. They come from various African countries with a sob story about money rightfully belonging to a recently tragically deceased relative. They are looking for someone who will help them get justice and the cash and offer a cut. If anyone has had these before you will know what I am talking about. What they are really after is someone's bank details and money.

What I am concerned about is that they seem to have got a way of making their message look as if it has something to do with the forum and Christian Aid. I have had these by other routes, but not until now mentioning the forum as if they got my address from Surefish.

I hope no-one replies to anything like this.

Welcome to the new surefish forum. This forum is remarkably similar to the old forum, but with new style buttons, better individual user options and better security for you and us.

All of the elements of the old forum are here, but in different places, so my first piece of advice is to look at all places on the new format pages because something that you're used to with the old forum is still here, just in a different place.

And feel free to explore all of the old and new parts of the forum, as other forum users have been doing during the second testing period, and our thanks to all those who have implemented and tested this new forum.

A revised user guide will be published in the next few days.
